Jodhpur

Also located in the vicinity of Jodhpur, Khimsar is located in the Thar Desert. Though Khimsar Fort is the most important attraction here, its location makes it ideal for many other activities. Visitors can have a desert safari or go desert camping.

The fort lies 125 meters above Jodhpur’s skyline and is situated on a rising plateau on the outskirts of Jodhpur. Chiselled and sturdy, the fort is known for its exquisite latticed windows, carved panels, intricately decorated windows and walls of Moti Mahal, Phool Mahal and Sheesh Mahal.

Umaid Bhawan Palace is a magnificent Palace built in sandstone and marble with the blend of Indo-Saracenic architecture. It is recognised as one of the largest private homes in the world and also one of the more spectacular buildings. It is the only palace built in the 20th century.

Within the compound of Mehrangarh Fort, Sheesh Mahal is a glass palace of Jodhpur which is adorned by mirrors from top to bottom. From magnificent walls to ceilings, Sheesh Mahal is a beautiful Palace superimposed by the mirror work of brightly painted religious figures cast in plaster.

Jaswant Thada is a whitel memorial built in commemoration of the leader Jaswant Singh in the 19^th century and serves as the major tourist attraction in the city. It is a tribute to Jaswant Singh who ruled Jodhpur the right way by bringing down the level of crimes, dacoits and built railways and helped in increasing the economy of Marwar.

The Clock tower of Rajasthan is located in Sadar Bazaar, one of the busiest areas of Jodhpur. The Sadar Market is quite popular among tourists, who throng the streets to purchase Rajasthani textiles, clay figurines, miniature camels and elephants, marble inlay work and classic silver jewellery
