Haridwar

Haridwar is a divine place and considered most sacred by Hindus. Hari means lord and pauri means stair. Therefore Hai ki Pauri is a ghat on the river Ganga where devotees from all over India come for holy bath considering it will forgive all sins committed by them. The water of Ganga is considered highly powerful and sacred.

Mansa Devi Temple is placed atop a hillock known as the Bilwa Parvat of the Shiwalik Range of the Himalayas. This temple has a rope way to go there, you have to trek a bit to reach this destination.

Rajaji National Park is a large tiger reserve that encompasses the Shivaliks, near the foothills of the Himalayas. The park is spread over 820 km², and three districts of Uttarakhand: Saharanpur, Dehradun and Pauri Garhwal. You can enjoy a jungle safari in the jeep and spot some animals on the way.

Birla Ghat is one of the oldest ghat of Haridwar.It is about 2 kms away from Har Ki Pauri. It is quaint and solitary ghat in Haridwar. Hindu devotees take holy dip here in river Ganga. This ghat is cleaner than famous ghat Har Ki Pauri.

Spread between Ganga Ghats to upper road; this famous market starts from Har ki pauri end and is nearly a km in length.  It is a narrow street with hundreds of small shops that offer from religious items to clothing to wooden articles to brass utensils.

This is one of the oldest temples in India and is surprisingly well maintained. The introduction of the rope-way, it has become more accessible. The ride is beautiful and the temple dedicated to the goddess who fulfills wishes is definitely worth a visit, even if you are not religious.
