Kullu

Situated on the banks of Parvati River, Kasol is beautiful small village where you can witness the intermingling of ultra modern and stereotypical population.  People or travelers from around the world have even settled down in this place forever and run their own small businesses here. It is rare combination of contemporary and orthodox. Fancy cafes, Italian, American and Mexican food is commonly available here due to the number of foreign population living here. Israelis could be more commonly spotted here living for quite a long time. Kasol is a beautiful valley with a lot of places to stay like hotels, home stays and guest houses. If you move ahead from Kasol, you will see Manikaran, Kheerganga and Toash Valley.

As you move ahead of Kasol in the same Valley, you climb up to precipitous Parvati Valley. If you climb up the steep Vaelly from ahead of Kasol, the valley leads to the famous village Malana. On the way the road passes through Manikaran, a pilgrimage town of Sikhs and Hindu and terminates at Pulga.  This trek leads you to spiritual site Kheerganga which is famous for its hot water springs at high altitude. From there, the Valley further reaches the Tunda Bhuj village at an altitude of 3285 meters. Here the valley cuts a steep sided gorge through the mountains and thick forests starts to get sparse and and you witness large green grounds. The Valley is magically enchanting but to trek through this Valley, you need a lot of strength and agility.

Located just 5kms away from Kullu, Mata Vaishno Devi Temple is named after Goddess Parvati and built in the year 1966. Being a famous tourist site, it attracts many tourists.

Tosh is a small village again in Parvati Valley and leads to Pin Parvati Pass. The Village has been developed by locals for tourists and travelers and the road from Kasol ends here in this Village. The village is beautiful and gets a lot of tourists from around the world.

Kheerganga is a magnificent location at distance of 5 hours trek from Barshaini where the road starting from Kasol ends. It is famous for Shiv temple or cave where it is believed that Lord Shiv meditated for 3000 years. Kheerganga is famous for its hot water springs that have been spewing hot waters for years unknown. The trek towards kheerganga is full of tall deodar trees, enchanting waterfalls, and dream like path ways. Tourists flock in numbers to visit the place with their companions.

One of the sacred temples of Himachal, Bijli Mahadev attracts a number of tourists every year. Located at an altitude of 2,460 meters in the Kullu Valley, Bijli Mahadev is situated across Beas River. To reach the temple, you need to walk through a 3 km trek.

A village at an altitude of 2,652 metres is famous for its opium and marijuana production. However, to witness this controversial village of Kullu district, you have to trek a long way as there is no road way to this village. Well, the village showcase the old Himacahali culture and has a government of its own and do not adhere to therules of State government. The village is famous, beautiful and controversial and so there is all the more reason to visit this temple.

Get a glimpse of incomparable ecological views at the Great Himalayan National Park to witness rare wildlife species of Western Himalaya like Brown bear, Musk deer, Thar, Leopard, Goral, Bharal, Serow, Monal, Snow leopard, Kalij, Koklas, Tragopan, Cheer, etc. Also view small mammals that include Giant Indian Flying Squirrel, Porcupine, Himalayan Weasel, Indian Pika and Yellow Throated Marten.

Enjoy walk around the unexplored town of Naggar amidst lush greenery, mountain ranges and valleys on the bank of river Beas. Visit Naggar Castle better known for its medieval stone and woodwork depicting exemplary architecture.

Just 4.3 kms ahead of Kasol, Manikaran is revered pilgrimage center for Hindus and Sikhs both. It is home to many ancient Hindu temples and Gurudwaras where numerous Hindus and Sikhs pay a visit every year. The major crowd is attracted by the hot water springs of Manikaran which expels hot water 25hours at a temperature that rice could be cooked in it. Yes, the sulphur springs of Manikaran are quite famous and attract a lot of tourists every year. Besides, the Parvati River flowing alongside the Valley puts up a view more enchanting and heavenly.

Visit the well-known hot springs in Manikaran located on the banks of river Parvati. Being hot, these springs are said to be radio-active. Just put small amounts of pulses, rice of vegetable in these springs for few minutes and you’ll be surprised to see them cooked thoroughly.

Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the Temple of Lord Shiva is a prominent tourist attraction. According to local beliefs, Gods of Kullu district visit Lord Shiva here on specific dates, making it really special to visit on your trip.

Harinder is a name of the mountain that is located on the bank of River Parvati. Legend has it that mere a look at this mountain can make you free of evils. Parvati River on the other hand is massive and the flow just makes you feel powerless as it is majestic.

Most of the places in Kinnaur are deserted due to its difficult terrain and is not much habitated by the human population. Due to this it is home to many wild life sanctuaries. Some of the famous sanctuaries are the Lipa- Asrang Sanctuary, the Rakchham-Chhitkul Sanctuary and the Rupi- Bhaba Sanctuary. These sanctuaries are  popular destinations and known as a home to a variety of wildlife, including species like yak, ibex, leopard, red fox, goral, blue sheep, brown beer, musk deer and the Himalayan black deer.
