Kalpa

Location: Kalpa, Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh, India

A tiny town or village lies in the lap of Mt. Kinner Kailash and is breathtakingly gorgeous with no regrets. At an elevation of 19,965 meters above sea level, Kalpa is a centuries old town in Kinnaur district. Kalpa is majorly famous for its apple orchards as it produce one of the best tasting apples in the world. With a climate so extreme, the place is natural paradise located on the banks of River Sutlej. There is no friction in traveling this town easily; it is well connected with major cities of Himachal like Shimla, Kullu, Manali, Kangra etc. The local food is amazingly healthy and local drinks are something to try for sure.

Sangla

Location: Sangla, Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh, India

Considered as one of the best valleys in the country, Sangla valley is valley of light which receives a good amount of sunlight in a day. Chitkul

Location: Chitkul, Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh, India

Last and highest village on the Indo-Tibetan border, Chitkul is located at an altitude of 3450 meters above sea level. Covered under the snow for most of year, Chitkul gives you an extreme experience. However, the beauty of the town is incomparable as River flows alongside the Valley keeping it all green and beautiful.  Blessed with some of the best walks, Chitkul can best be explored on foot.

Nako

Location: Nako, Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh, India

The virgin village of Nako is located at an altitude of 3600 meters above sea level. The village or town is a small area concentrated to few hectares where people live in harmony with each other. It is a last attraction on the Kinnaur Valley and located in between Kinnaur and Spiti Valley with a touch of cultures of both districts. Beside, the village lies on the border Indo-Tibetan border and inspire many travelers to visit there. Due to its border location, travelers require an inner line permit to travel this region.

Chandika Devi Temple

Location: Kothi, Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh, India

Chandika Devi Temple in Kothi has a high religious veneration and so does the place Kothi become naturally blissful. Also another temple of Hindu god Bhairon baba holds utmost reverence for localities making a Kothi a must visit place for tourists as well.

You can view an excellent mountain ranges and dense deodar and pine forests against the architectural style buildings.

Ribba

Location: Ribba, Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh, India

Chilgoza is a greatest speciality of Kinnaur and Ribba’s another name ‘rirang’ which is made by adding ‘ri’ which means chilgoza. Ribba is a populous village in Kinnaur situated at an elevation of 3745m above sea level. Pine Nuts are found in abundance here which makes it a beautifully scenic place.

The area is famous for its grape orchards and grape distilled alcohols and the innumerable trees with edible pines.

Kinner Kailash

Location: Kinner Kailash, Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh, India

Kinner Kailash or Kinnaur Kailash is not strange to anyone who is aware of Hindu mythology. As per Indian mythology, lord Shiva resides in the snow clad mountain popularly known as Kinner Kailash. The massive mountain has a height of 6050 meters. The only way to reach there is through trekking but you can always view the mountain from Kalpa.

Bhaba Valley

Location: Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh, India

The valley that matches up to beauty of Kashmir Valley, Bhabha Valley is full of green forests of Mulling, river deltas, wide spread green pastures. If trekking is on your list, you won’t get better trek than this.

Weather in Kinnaur

Kinnaur has cold climate where winters are extremely cold and freezing. Summers are however pleasant and temperature do not rise more than 15 to 16 degree Celcius.

Best Time to Visit

The summer season in Kinnaur is very pleasant and has a moderate climate and is considered as the perfect time to visit the place.  Best time is to visit during May to October months.

How to Reach

Air: You can book your flight from Jubbar Hatti Airport near Shimla and can directly ladn in Kinnaur.

Rail: Kinnaur is not connected to any railway network. However you could reach till Shimla through train and can further drive your way to Kinnaur.

Road: All the corners are well-connected by road. Use the State Transport buses or hire a private taxi for a convenient trip.
