This tour package covers the most exotic locations of North India in two separate districts of Himachal particularly on Indo-Tibetan border. Kinnaur and Kaza are two exotic places neighboring each other and their borders lies in Indo-Tibetan borders. However, even being the remotest of places in India, the exquisiteness of the two places is unparalleled and distinguished from entire country. Some dangerous roads and exotic mountain passes lies on the way to these two places. Rohtang Pass at an altitude of 13,200 feet and Kunzum La Pass at an altitude of 15000 feet are two mountain passes that are sure to strike your nerves no matter how daring you are.
However, the magical beauty of the place certainly lies because of the presence of these two passes that separated Manali and Kinnaur and Kinnaur and Kaza respectively. The snow clad mountain ranges and streaming Rivers hurtling down the deep gorges in Kaza will leave you resplendent while Kinnaur’s green valleys and enticing apple and apricot orchards will allure your senses leaving you enthralled. Kinnaur and Kaza are two very distinct places in terms of terrain, soild and vegetation. While Kiannaur is all green and grassy, Kaza is a land of barren mountains with minimum vegetation and hard shrubs gowning on barren mountains.
So, it’s one in a lifetime opportunity to visit the places so close and yet so different in nature.
Day 01: Chandigarh to Sarahan
As you reach Chandigarh Airport/railway station, out hospitable representative will be there to ascort you to Sarahan, a small village in Himachal. On reaching you destination, check into the hotel and rest overnight for your further journey in the morning.
Day 02: Sarahan to Sangla
In the morning seek blessing from godess Dugra of ancient Bhimakali Temple in Sarahan. On a religious note, continue your journey ahead to Sangla. After a sxi hour long drive, as you reach Sangla all tired and exhausted due to the serpentine road, check into the hotel or luxury tented accommodation and rest for a while. Have your lunch and freshen up to explore the nearby town os Kamru and Sangla. Explore the local markets, enjoy the evening and return back to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 03: Local Sightseeing of Chitkul Sangla Valley
On day 3, visit the nearby Kamru Fort and its temple which is dedicated to Kamaksha Devi. Also visit Karcham village which is 17 km away from Sangla. Before that, you get to visit the last inhabited village on Indo-Tibetan border- Chitkul which is known for its staircase terrain. It lies in the Baspa Valley from where River Baspa dashs down the deep gorges while irrigating the village of Chitkul. Return back and stay overnight in Sangla.
Day 04: Sangla to Kalpa Local Sightseeing
The next morning, you will be driven to Kalpa village after the breakfast. On the way, you can stop over at Recongpo and enjoy the vividness of the local market and buying local stuffs. Being the district headquarters of Kinnaur District, you can enjoy a local lunch at the restaurant, trying all kinds of Indian as well as Tibetan delicacies. Post lunch, you can visit the Kalpa village and the nearby Roghi village where thick pine forest known for their quality apricots and apples welcome you. Not to forget the majestic view of the Mt. Kinner Kailash in the early morning as the sun rises above the snowy peaks. Also, visit Kalpa – a beautiful villagebeing developed by the Britishers in the Centaury. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 05: Kalpa to Tabo
Post breakfast, drive towards Tabo while halting at Puh and Nako. On the way, visit Nako Lake and village where you can enjoy the delicious lunch and leave for village Kalpa further. On your way to Tabo, visit Gue village famous for Buddhist Mummy of a monk which is around 600 years old and is a major attraction for people coming here. As you reach Tabo in the evening, check into the hotel and stay overnight.
Day 06: Tabo to Kaza
Visit the very popular Tabo Monastery in the village situated at an altitude of 3,200 meters. The gompa is famous for preserving old Buddhist scriptures and statues. After seeking blessing at the thousand year old monastery, continue for Kaza. On the way, visit Dhankar village and Dhankar monastery. Stop for the lunch here and continue your journey ahead. Upon arrival at Kaza, check into the hotel and if you have time, you can explore the local markets of Kaza.
Day 07: Sightseeing around Kaza
Today’s the day to explore the historical village of Kaza and other neighboring villages like Langza, Hikkim, Kibber and Komic. Langza is one important village in Spiti where you can find million years old fossils and remains ancient times and thus is important geographically. Go collect some samples and boast as you return back to your place. If weather permits there is an option drive on to Hikkim, and the Komic village, which is now the world’s highest village (4,450 metres) connected to a highest motorable road. Take a trip to Kye Monastery. Kye Monastery is situated at the foot of steep ridges and on the left bank of river Spiti and the village of Kibber. Enjoy your lunch at Kibber village in a local restaurant, where you will be offered a choice of delicious Tibetan dishes. Take a scenic drive to the pasture country of Kibber. In the evenin, return to Kaza for a night stay.
Day 08: Kaza to Chandertal Lake
Visit the most entrenching Lakes in the world, Chandrataal Lake in the mystic Himalyan mountains at an altitude of 4300 meters. Legend has it that that God’s Indra’s Chariot took the eldest Pandava brother Yudhistra ascended to heaven in his mortal form at this place. Apart from the legend, the place is magical and mesmerizing while offering a spectacular view for those who visit. Spend the night in the tent near the Lake and admire the bliss of nature. Enjoy your stay here overnight.
Day 09: Chandertal to Manali
Today you will be driving back to Manali while crossing the same mountain passes that thrilled you in the very beginning of the journey. After a long journey, reach Manali in the evening, check into the hotel and rest overnight.
Day 10: Manali to Chandigarh
Post breakfast, you’ll be driven to Chandigarh via Hanogi Devi temple and Pandoh Dam. You will be dropped at Chandigarh Airport/ Railway station by evening for your back home journey.
