Famous for its wide golden beaches, tall coconut trees, Portuguese Churches and local drink feni, Goa is beautiful small state in southwest India. With its coastlines stretching along the Arabian Sea, Goa is home to a number of beautiful clean beaches that attracts a huge tourist crowd to the state ever year. Fancy cafes, party house, and open parties at the beaches reflect the tourist culture of the state and is one of the best holiday spots in India.
However, it is said that the heart of Goa lies in its villages. Unlike others, Goans don’t live in cities; they live in the villages and travel to work to cities and elsewhere. The character and charm of the state lies in its villages and thus the city is slow and difficult to live in. The villages are comparatively cleaner and greener and provide much better holidaying destination in Goa. Evenings here are most pleasant and enjoyable when taken long walks alongside the beaches or even in the streets that boasts the old world charm. The air of Goa is cleaner than most of the other vacation spots in India except for the hills where you get the cleanest air. The city is also cleaner and vibrant with people coming from all spheres of life.
Goa is small state which reflects the rule of Portuguese here during the pre independence times. For 451 years, Goa was not the part of India due the long Portuguese rule on it. Being a coastal region and home to diverse cultures varying from Hindus to Roman Catholics, Goa is very different from the entire Indian subcontinent.
Goa's staple diet is fish, curry and rice, and feni is the local drink of Goa which is available in the local shops.
