Athirappilly on the other hand is famous for its waterfall which is situated 1000 feet above mean sea level on the Chalakudy River. The place is magnificent combination of dense forests and small stream flowing through it. Athirappilly Falls is the largest fall in the state falling from the height of 80 feet.Many endangered and endemic species of flora and fauna are found in the forests of the Athirapilly-Vazhachal area. This area is the only place in the Western Ghats where four endangered Hornbill species are seen.  Environmentalists claim that Athirapally is a one-of its-kind riparian ecosystem in Kerala.

The waterfall of Athirapally is also known as the Niagara Falls of India. The spectacular view of the cascading waterfalls from heights of 80 feet is an experience par excellence. It lies within the wilderness of the Sholayar Range which offers a beautiful breathtaking view. Stay overnight in Athirapally.

Munnar is a beautiful pristine hill town in the Western Ghats Mountain ranges of Kerala situated at around 1,600 metres above mean sea level. It is a resort town famous for hosting the elite British Raj during their rule in India. The hill town is surrounded by hills dotted with tea plantations established in the late 19th century. The town houses the famous Eravikulam National Park, which inhabited by the endangered mountain goat Nilgiri Tahr and is a home to Lakkam Waterfalls, hiking trails and 2,695m-tall Anamudi Peak.

Itinerary

Day 1: Kochi (Arrival) - On to Athirapally (78 kms / approx. 3 hour drive)

Upon arrival at the Kochi Airport/ Railway Station in Ernakulam, you will be transferred to Athirapally. It is considered as the land of forests, rivers and great waterfalls. Upon arrival Athirapally, check into the hotel. The rest of the evening is free to explore the sights and sounds of Athirapally.

Day 2: Athirapally

On day 2 of your magic tour, you will be exploring the town of Athirappilly. Move out for a sightseeing tour of the town. Visit the enchanting Athirapally Waterfalls that falls from 80 feet and further joins Chalakudi River. After beautiful sightseeing, you get back to the hotel and stay overnight.

Day 3: Athirapally to Munnar (180 kms / approx. 5 hour drive)

On day 3, drive to Munnar, enveloped in the lush greenery. It is breathtakingly beautiful, and a refuge for peace loving tourists. It is an idyllic tourist destination in the God’s Own Country and considered as the Gateway to the South Indian hills. En-route, you can also watch the lovely waterfalls in Cheeyappara and colorful flowers in Blossom Gardens.

Later, check into the hotel and retire for the day, amidst the comforts of your room. The rest of the day is free to explore this beautiful hill town. Stay overnight in Munnar.

Day 4: Munnar

Day 4 is reserved for a local sightseeing tour of Munnar town. If evening safai wasn’t enough, go for a morning safari inside the Eravikulam National Park where you can spot several exotic animal species such as Tiger, Leopard, Nilgiri Tahr, Indian bison and more. The national park is a home to rich biodiversity with high elevation shoal-grassland ecosystem. Enjoy your day exploring the town and treat your eyes with the lovely lush views. Return back to the hotel and stay overnight.

You can also visit Echo Point, View Point and verdant tea gardens. The rest of the day is free to explore the allures of picturesque town. Stay overnight in Munnar.

Day 5: Munnar - Alleppey

On day 5, you will be leaving for Alleppey, the gateway of splendid backwaters of Kerala. Upon arrival in Alleppey, board the Kettuvallam or houseboat and enjoy your stay and ride on the backwaters. The luxurious houseboat is equipped with every possible necessity. The view from the middle of exotic backwaters is breathtakingly spectacular and the feel is even more enthralling. Enjoy your stay in the houseboat and appreciate the beauty of stunning backwaters..

Day6: Alleppey -Kovalam

On day 6, leave for Kovalam from Alleppey after a filling breakfast on the boat. After a four hour long drive, you will reach Kovalam and upon arrival check into the hotel. As you reach the most popular and most happening beach of Kerala, you will certainly get lifted up in spirits and joy. Enjoy your time around the beach- long walks, sunsets, crowd, conversations and everything. After an exciting day, you get back to the hotel room and stay overnight.

Day 7: Kovalam- Trivandrum- Kovalam

On day 7, drive towards Trivandrum, the largest city and the capital of Kerala. Upon arrival check into the hotel and after relaxing for a while, go on for excursion of the city .Visit Science and Technology Museum, Veli Tourist village, Shangmugham Beach, Museum Complex, Padmanabha Swamy Temple and Aakulam boat club. Spend the night in the hotel at Kovalam

Day 8: Kovalam- Departure from Trivandrum

On last day of your tour after a filling breakfast, you will be driven towards Airport or railways station for catching a flight or train for your onward journey to home.
